Hello there Reader,

When you enter a dark room and you want to see, what do you usually do?

​

Walk back out of the room, enroll in an electrical engineering program so you can learn, the good old fashioned Edison-way, how to create an electrical candle all by yourself?
​
Maybe you decide the proper order of achieving light is actually to go out and get a PH.D. in physics?
​
Once you have a mastery level understanding of everything from blackbody radiation to the particle nature of light and the wave nature of matter, then, and only then, will you feel really confident. Then you can truly trust yourself to know what you're doing when it comes time to find your pants in a dark closet before heading to work in the morning and you need to be able to create light on demand.
​
Or, maybe you try to take the non-materialist, spiritual approach?
​
You about your business and remind yourself not to ask for too much, hoping the light will come on if you intend/pray/chant/meditate hard enough, want it badly enough, and go long enough without it. In the meantime, doing your best with your third eye and the fuzzy, grainy, near blackness night vision you have?
​
(All while being ever so grateful for what you've got. Because: I mean, talk about first world problems!)
​
No.
​
No, of course I'm being utterly redonkulous.
​
Of course you don't do any of this.
​
You do what any modern genius does.
​
You reach out and flip a switch.
​
Why?
​
Because it works. It's a solution that is right there, everyday, always within your reach.
​
And you don't have to know how or understand why it works in order for it to work its magic and do the job.
​
(Even if its magic is really science that just feels like magic if we're really paying attention!).
​
You want light? You say, "Let there be light!" (if only to amuse yourself and annoy your family/roommates) and then...
​
You flip a switch.
​
There it is, that big job of illuminating your life so you no longer have to stumble around in the darkness, groping blindly for what you want, while hoping to avoid sharp corners, walls, and, you know, all those monsters and serial killers that otherwise scuttle and scoot under the bed and behind the shower curtain when lights come on (just another reason I really like having glass doors on my shower 😉)....

That job is DONE. And then you can get on with your life!
​
No need to stay stuck in the darkness and figure out light for yourself. There are no extra points for that, my friend (and, again, it's already been done!).
​
Whether you want more light or less light, flipping the switch is how you achieve that.
​
The physics behind it are so astounding they boggle the mind, and yet this ability to create light is literally at our fingertips everyday.
​
This is how I think of masterful coaching.
​
Our humanity and all that comprises it, our brains, bodies, psyches, souls, spirits, beingness, and then communities, belief systems and structures are so mind-bogglingly complex and certainly one of the, even not thee, most extraordinary cosmological phenomenon we are currently aware of.
​
No wonder we can often feel like we are just scratching the surface of our universe-sized potential with a toothpick.
​
No wonder it can often feel daunting when we just know there is a breakthrough for us, but we're still in the dark, still in our own way, still not completely understanding ourselves or the situation.
​
We have all heard the phrase, "the answers are within," and we may feel the truth in that, and yet still struggle to find that truth like someone groping about blindly in a darkened room.
​
Working with a coach can be like flipping a switch.
​
The coach doesn't have the answers, you do.
​
But masterful coaching can be the light switch that leads to the revelations, the personal epiphany, that allows your brilliance, your genius, your own deepest truth and wisdom and self, to cut through the darkness, shine, and light your way forward.
​
